Apr. 27: Tsetang, Tibet

Previous  Next

The next stop is Trandruk Monastery. What's interesting here is that it's being totally renovated. It's hard to know what's old in China, because so much was destroyed in the Cultural Revolution and so much is being rebuilt for tourism. The women on the roof are singing while they stamp down a dirt mixture on the roof. This creates a sort of Tibetan pavement that's waterproof and durable.
