Liu Sanjie (Third Liu Sister) is a legend of the Zhuang people, the largest of China's 56 minorities. She was a beautiful singer, who was coveted by a local tyrant, but showed up the bad guys and eventually escaped with her boyfriend, in one version by turning into a pair of larks.
